These prototype parts are initial manufacturing runs produced before final production. As the final design is often only marginally adjusted, they provide exceptional value compared to full-production units.

This part was a prototype that never made it to a final production run. It was designed to reduce the space required by the traditional mount from around 20 mm down to 10 mm and to accommodate protruding seatpost designs. The idea was for it to sit higher in the gap between the saddle and the rails, but because this spacing varies, compatibility was difficult to define.
We know it fits within the gap on a Specialized saddle, and most saddles offer similar or larger spacing, but exact compatibility can’t be guaranteed.
